World Builder
The World Builder uses a strong background in art to produce attractive and fun areas within the game world, and reporting to the Lead Environment Artist. Successful candidates can show a portfolio containing not only 3d art samples, but also traditional art samples. While World Builders are welcome to contribute in art asset creation, their primary focus is to build stunning worlds.
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sculpt and texture terrain to create a compelling and appealing fantasy world based on existing designs using proprietary 3D tools
Object placement, lighting and fog setups
Communicate and work with designers and artists
Adapt and conform to the established art style
Help to develop and maintain a healthy and positive company culture
Have a thorough understanding of production pipelines and art integration
Contribute to the creative process through original ideas and inspiration
Participate in critiquing your work and the work of other artists
Work with the entire development team in an energetic and creative environment
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent understanding of environmental design and its functions within a game
Demonstrated ability to build a quality level using standard industry tools”, under required skills
An understanding of art fundamentals such as color, value, composition and the ability to make improvements on these
Aptitude for learning new systems quickly
Patience and a strong sense of humor
EXPERIENCE
At least two years experience in the game industry
Familiarity with industry standard tools and software, including terrain sculpting and texturing tools
Broad knowledge of modern MMOs
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
MMO development experience
An avid gamer
Knowledge of Asian MMO market
Fluency in Mandarin
Can solo against two champions
